These types of locations are ideal for workforce training opportunities. Asbestos & lead based paint remediation, energy improvements for operation cost efficiency (think Passive House, not solar or windmill). Our construction workforce is aging and we need younger people to get properly trained if we are to ever repair our infrastructure. There is a prison on McNeil Island in WA state that would be ideal for workforce training opportunities like this to rebuild the site by training construction workers, then that location would be good for addiction rehabilitation services. There is a video called Seattle is Dying. They present ideas of how to deal with the addiction problem, & I think they mention McNeil Island, but are stopped by its condition. Train our future construction workforce and Make America Great Again at the same time by tackling crime, addiction, & infrastructure in one symbiotic system.
