🧠 These people are STUPID!
IMO it isn't the best of what Angel has put out from an American standpoint (ie underdog always wins & there is always a great triumph around the corner).
That said, it is a great film that portrays the man & is a fantastic drama style film.
Go in recognizing it is a film to honor the man who held his Christian beliefs until the very end, & it exposed me to Bonhoffer.
As an American who grew up on dramas & action movies where the good guy always wins, it just felt like I had been let down. Many of my friends who emigrated to the US think I am nuts & that this is a fantastic Drama.
Definately worth a watch & I strongly recommend it, but I have a hard time wanting to see it again, likely due to my Gen X, good guys always win attitude. I wish it had gone on to show how much his sacrifice has helped shape & change the world since his end. Another 5-10 minutes of how his life effected the world would have absolutely made it one of the best films of WW2, that isn't focused on battle, I have ever seen.
Lots of biblical stories end with the protagonist not winning in a worldly manner, as nice as the last century+’s underdog template is.
I’ve been meaning to watch it for some time, it’s definitely on my list.
