This is something I never would have called in a million years. The first American pope has been selected. Robert Francis Prevost is the new pope. Reporting live from Italy here, and laughing my heart out as everyone around me is somewhat stunned.

There have been times when it took 3 years to elect a pope, a couple of days is extremely quick.
