I've worked with a lot of Indian IT "engineers" over my career. Other than a few stellar exceptions, I'd take AI over most of them, even with my disdain for AI code.
Unfortunately, a good chunk of AI are probably trained by the same Indian-derived code. God help us.
Lately, at least at my company, we've had a fair amount of devs from Central and South America. Have to say that I've been impressed by a good amount of them - maybe 40%.
I understand a little Spanish too, so their English is more intelligible, at least for me. Argentina and Brazil seem to have some outstanding IT people but also some from LatAm.
Some of the near-shore dev teams aren't bad. The application Dev teams had better success with them. Unfortunately the way my Data Warehouse budget was set, it was unskilled vendors from offshore peddled by the cheapest of vendors. 🙄
Same here...they can't code worth a shit and their logic sometimes boggles the mind in what they are "trying" to accomplish...ask them to do a simple drop down list from the database and instead of writing a stored procedure then hooking the code to the stored procedure instead, they wrote the sql code RIGHT IN THE C# CODE ITSELF!!!!!!!! UUUUUGH!!!!!!!!!

Bingo. I got out of database development when my competent American engineers were force-replaced by incompetent H1bs.
