I'm beginning to think that a dystopian future, where electronics, computers, cell phones, etc. are inoperable, fried... and we all get back to basics of living day to day.
I'm becoming more of a luddite everyday. I miss the analog days to be honest. Everyone's burnt out, fried and over stimulated and lacking of real connections
Yes, a Luddite. I was born and raised in the analog world... clocks, mechanical things that could be fixed easily, factories that used good solid engineering to create things of lasting utility, phones that hung on walls or sat passively on a table, and people who knew exactly where they stood in society, with fewer illusions of importance and meaning of their lives... We knew who we were, and what it would take to get ahead in the world...and we created a stunning society of basic technology that the world wanted.
We've given up so much to carry around our own surveillance device in our pockets so we can play silly games on them, send insipid texts and emojis, and look up useless "information." It's no accident that "fidget spinners" came about in this century, they are emblematic of our lives today. Mindless activity that achieves nothing. I dread to think about what people will start doing once all the jobs are taken by AI. The human mind is not meant to be idle, and when it IS idle, it seeks idols to worship... movie stars, "musicians," celebrities who are famous for being famous.
I would trade modern living for one year of living in the world I grew up in.
Extremely well said fren. I couldn't agree more. I would trade modern living in a heart beat for that same world i grew up in too.

I always use can openers as an example of this. My mom still has the can opener she bought when she first moved out of her parents house. I on the other hand am on my 4th.
I'd even take early internet days where you had to "go online" rather than today's perpetually online.

Dang that is brutally and depressingly accurate. Never thought about it like that.
Agreed,YET without the anon boards, and the tech that left a trail from the bad guys and our ability to crowd source and meme and aggregate info and inform and act, yea, the good old analog days were bliss because if ignorance. As we know now all the unspeakable things were controlled much easier. I understand the sentiment, yet If we Pray and act on what is requited together amazing things can happen.
I dont want anyone in charge of AI, Ai shouldn't even exist. You have any idea how many millions of gallons of water it takes to keep an AI data center cooled? Now begin to wonder why more and more states are making it illegal to collect rainwater.
Ben should have said, Will Have Neither. Because 'safety' has NEVER been accomplished by More cops/laws/regulations BUT, the Armed citizen Has always produced Safety and lowered crime.

Thank you, you are too kind.

I concede the point to you.
Same, i hate smartphones so damn much. They've starved out human creativity and intellect. I want to go back.
Now, only disciplined people can access creativity and intellect.
I’ll allow it…
Is there some sort of camp we can go to just to live off of the land?
It's quite apparent technology has cripple the natural human spirit and way of life.
I want to escape somewhere where I don't have to pay attention to shit I can't control and work on faith and living the way God intended...
I'm starting to think we need an army of Luigis. Too many CEOs out there.
Billionaires know what is best for us.
They seem to think. It's obvious we are different, tho.
I cannot imagine that I share many values with a person chasing exorbitant wealth as I chase after peace.
barely the same species at that point
It certainly feels like it 👍
If there's anyone I want in charge of that AI, it's Donald Trump.
Just one problem.
What happens when Trump's not in charge anymore?

Yepeee, the surveillance state. Sign me up. We need more Big Guns.
Reminds me of Q post #2663! Nothing is what it seems!
