The Pharisees pressured Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor, to crucify Jesus, even though Pilate initially found no fault in him, according to the Gospel of Matthew. Pilate's attempts to release Jesus, such as offering the crowd a choice between Jesus and Barabbas, demonstrate his reluctance to condemn him and his awareness of the potential consequences. The argument used by the Jewish leaders to pressure Pilate was that if he did not condemn Jesus, he would be seen as disloyal to Caesar (Emperor Tiberius).
Then Pilate tried to release him, but the Jewish leaders shouted, “If you release this man, you are no ‘friend of Caesar.’ Anyone who declares himself a king is a rebel against Caesar.” John 19:12
When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood,” he said. “It is your responsibility!” Matthew 27:24
The Pharisees brought Jesus to Pilate. The Pharisees threatened and pressured Pilate to sentence Jesus to crucifixion. Pilate was morally weak and gave into the demands of the mob seemingly to avoid civil unrest and making enemies with the Pharisees. Pilate is not innocent, but who was it who really orchestrated Jesus' death?
God the Father did. He so loved the world that he sent his only begotten son to be a sacrifice for sin.
The Bible says in 1 Peter 1:20 that Jesus was crucified before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in these last times for you.
In Revelation 13: 8 the Bible says ..."and all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world."
No doubt some Jewish religious sects wanted Jesus killed and they tried to kill him even before the cross, but he laid down his life for his friends and those that would believe on him through their word. It was the Romans that killed him physically but only because God gave them that power, and it was Jesus that said that, not me.
The word of God is forever and no matter how much one may hate "Jews" it won't change the Gospel truth.
The death and resurrection of Jesus is quite different from the country of Israel and its politicians. I think people that can't (or won't) see the difference don't understand either one very well.
Correct. Nothing ever happens without it being God's will. God's plan included Jesus' sacrifice for the redemption of humanity, Jesus, being fully God and fully man, chose to willingly and lovingly participate in that plan. This choice was not a mere act of compelled duty but a profound act of love and obedience. God decided the Pharisees and the Romans would be the "antagonists", but it could have just as easily been any other group of people, had that been His will.
