They gave a phone number to call and asked for confirmation that I received the message by pressing 1. I thought that was pretty thorough.

Same here. I alerted my Amish acquaintances about the issue and provided the alternative phone #'s to call if they could not access 911.

There was a post within the last couple of days about a system alert test. Wouldn't that include a test of the backup system?
Does that mean we'll hear less ambulances ripping by because some dumbass didn't put the exhaust fan on while taking a hot shower and "felt dizzy"???
