Not so much trauma as an introduction into the world of adult matters. It braced me for the 1963 assassination and the presidential campaign of 1964. (We think Trump had it bad. Goldwater was totally villified.)
Then it shouldn't be any sort of stretch to comprehend, since governments around the world have largely been taken over by career criminals running an organized global crime syndicate built on a long chain of psy ops, that everything they put forth should first be scrutinized as a probable psy op, rather than assumed to be true, believable, or wholesome.
That isn't paranoia; it's ordinary common sense, married to wisdom and a commitment not to get fooled again.
When 90% of everybody gets that, it will be the Great Awakening.
There is plenty that is true, believable, and even wholesome. There is just a lot of stuff that isn't. It is important to be able to tell the difference. Otherwise, you get transported into fantasies about Flat Earth and Moon Hoax. Information has always been available, but it is not always publicized. Extremely good in-depth investigation by the John Birch Society, American Spectator (Clinton years), and Accuracy in Media, over many decades.
When everybody realizes that the mainstream media is not to be trusted, that will be a great awakening. But we will still have a lot to do to prevent them from taking any naps. We got here by being negligent and complacent, and that has to change.
