This is an empty threat by Abbott to make it look like he is doing something. In order for these lunatics to be expelled it would take a 2/3 majority vote. The Republicans would need at least 12 more votes than they have members. That's assuming that all of them vote to expel. Spoiler - they won't. Many of them are die-hard RINOs/Bushies. We would be lucky to get 45-50 votes.
They stand more of a chance of arresting them when they get back and charging them with a crime. Note - this stuff has happened for over 100 years in Texas. It is a fairly regular tactic by the minority party if they think they can get away with it. Both sides.
Abbott is trying a rare move to bypass the normal method of kicking someone out of the TxLeg and it is possible it will work.
For the house to expel them it would require 100 votes (out of a possible 150) to expel. Oh - and it would require a quorum, which is the whole problem. Republicans only hold 88 votes. A quorum in Texas is actually 2/3 of the members - which is 100. An amendment bill was submitted in 2021 to only require a simple majority (76) after the dems did this move before. I didn't see where it passed, and I don't remember it being on my ballot.

I don't think so.
You may be correct. I found more info on this, and commented here:
