Openly Gay: He is among Connecticut’s LGBTQ+ legislative leaders
Connecticut House Democrats
Shoplifting Incident (2025): Arrested and charged with sixth-degree larceny following incidents at a Bethel Target store. He attributed the incidents to accidental failure to scan items, citing personal stress. He has sought
diversionary programs to resolve the matter
Now I'm not saying shoplifting is okay, but to issue a warrant for $26 worth of merchandise seems a bit excessive. Just getting staff together to issue the warrant would cost more than the $26 stolen.
I mean a lot of laws exist that don't make any sense. There is a law against jaywalking that isn't enforced because it's ridiculous.
Target can simply ban that person from entering, and then trespass them when they do. But to get our tax dollars involved to pay for the warrant/etc because target lost $26 of merchandise, is ridiculous and excessive. No wonder we're all poor, our tax dollars are being wasted on dumb stuff like this.
Not really. Where is the cut off amount for stealing? It's a thousand dollars in SF and look at what it caused. I remember that they cleaned up new York by enforcing the small stuff laws and it had a huge effect on the big stuff.
