Do you all realize how easy it would be, with a large enough military force, to abruptly cut off DC and isolate it from the rest of the nation? All the roads, bridges, metro lines, and even heliports, could be seized and blockaded in a coordinated move that might take about 1 hour to complete.
With a sufficient number of troops, martial law could be established quite suddenly, and then the trapped traitors could be rounded up at leisure. I wonder if this is the end game?

True, but it's time-dependent. At night and on weekends, probably few of (them) are in DC proper. But on busy days, Congress in session, all there for a SOTU speech, or other times, it would be a target-rich environment. Imagine that scenario -- a total lock-down -- happening at noon on one of the busiest days in DC.
I think the problem there is there will be one "white knight" who will tip them off, and it will all be for nothing. The cockroaches will scurry away minutes before the bridges are shut down. Then we will have to spend time and money looking for them, like the idiots in Texas.
Not if they have good Operations Security (OpSec). We managed to keep the massive Normandy Invasion a secret, and the likewise Manhattan Project secret, from public or even insider knowledge. Nope, I think it could be done.
