Who TF engraves amunition. Plus there's not much sticking out of the casing to engrave. You'd have to engrave the bullet and then roll your own ammo.
Could be the BRASS was engraved.
Could your average dip-shit tranny clamp down a cartridge and engrave something on a curved brass surface? More likely someone else did it and handed off the ammo. I'm guessing the gun too. This was a premeditated killing by more than one person.

Brass is the construction material for the cartridge. The bullets are almost certainly not brass.
