Here is an interesting set of data that I read a few years ago, and don't know how up-to-date it is, but probably still in the ball park.
Anytime someone says anything about gun control due to shootings, tell them this:
(1) There are about 30,000 deaths in USA each year due to guns.
(2) Of those, about 20,000 are suicides and 10,000 are murders.
(3) Of those 10,000, abut 70% are in the top 10 largest metro areas.
(4) Of those 7,000, the vast majority are gang banger violence in the hood.
In a country of 300,000,000+, it is actually quite rare for anyone to shoot and kill someone, if they are not involved in gangs, or live near gang activity.
And about 70% of this violence is black perpetrators. It is probably closer to 80%, since in recent years many woke cities have started to lie about the race of the perp, calling them White when they clearly are not.
Blacks and Hispanics make up close to 90% of all violent crimes.
You have just turned the conversation from "guns are harmful" to "minorities are harmful," and their head will explode.
But that conversation is overdue, just like the JQ conversation.
Just to throw it out there, I did that years ago, like in 2011. That exact argument.

Oh, I know it won't convince them. They do not accept logic that conflicts with their propaganda.
