Pilots, how is a general aviator supposed to know when airspace is restricted? Is it part of the pre-flight checklist? Does a tower inform before flight? What if you just take a pleasure flight? Not defending the errors here, it just seems like there could be many innocent mistakes, if you can even call them mistake. You don't know, what you don't know kind of thing.
I looked up NOTAM in the article. Seems as though pre flight even pleasure flight rules are to be followed and checking for NOTAMS. Flying seems like it takes a lot dedication to and adherence to a ton of rules and regulations.
Yes. It is part of the preflight check. It is the piolet's responsibility to check for no fly zones on their route.
I've seen videos with radio audio of aircraft accidentally entering restricted space and being intercepted. It's usually no big deal and they just escort them through the restricted zone and say naughty naughty and the interceptors are happy they got to fly that day kek
Before an air flight, a pilot must perform comprehensive preflight planning and checks, which include ensuring their own physical fitness and completing the IMSAFE self-assessment, reviewing weather conditions and airport information for the flight and potential alternates, creating a detailed flight plan with fuel calculations and route details, performing a thorough walk-around and in-cockpit inspection of the aircraft's condition, and ensuring all required paperwork is complete and filed with air traffic control.
Here’s the reason that I don’t read Newsweek. It’s readers are Democrats, here are some comments from the article

Hard not to interpret this as a threat/warning
I would think there's a lot of attempts on his life. They got bold after Charlie.

Just like operating a truck or a car, there's study to be done. You wouldn't just go operating a plane or a boat, right?
I am sure somewhere along the line, person has been told how or where to fly..

Oh yeah. You have to learn and follow a ton of rules.
In the good old days we used to do just that.
So many of our freedoms taken away.
Glad that I retired.
I understand.
I do that in a boat all the time.

Your Garmin/etc should show any active TFR on your route.
I once flew over a restricted airspace, which happened to be a sky diving jump zone. Enormously lucky there was no disaster.
Are they testing how fast we respond?
I think so.
Something tells me there could be an intercept TIME review of this 😉 (911timeline.net)
Interesting point.
I wouldn't know.
