...when John says “synagogue of Satan” he’s talking about specific groups in Smyrna & Philadelphia who were persecuting Christians...

FALSE.
Of course you might not agree because perhaps you already made up your mind BUT if you're one who seeks truth instead of regurgitates what you've been taught, then read John chapter 7 & 8 again.
My quote was taken directly from a dialogue Jesus was having with a group of Jewish religious leaders when they wanted to stone him. This conversation is from John chapter 8. Jesus did not raise Lazarus until chapter 11. So the Jews were NOT YET persecuting Christians at this point in the book of John.
⬆️ The above is an objectively factual statement. If you disagree then you did NOT take 5 mins to read the conversation Jesus was having, OR you don't want to know anything beyond your current belief system.
The Jewish religious leaders attempted to stone Jesus twice in the book of John alone.
Not "some random crowd of jewish people."
Or "some common Jews."
But Jewish. Religious. Leaders. https://files.catbox.moe/hcoahz.jpeg
Ya I get what ur sayin - but u just proved my point. 👀 In John 8 Jesus is calling out the religious leaders who were resisting Him - not every Jewish person everywhere.
Plenty of Jews followed Him too (John 8:30).
Same with Revelation - the “synagogue of Satan” was a local group opposing Christians in Smyrna/Philadelphia, not all Jews for all time.
So yeah, He rebuked false leaders.
But Scripture also says Israel still has a role in God’s plan (Rom 11).
If we flatten that into “all Jews = devil’s kids” we miss the bigger picture of the Gospel.
u/LateToTheShow has it right (agreeing with what I said). The Jewish religious leaders in the 30s are a completely different group from the non-Jewish infiltrators of two Turkish cities in the 90s. They both rejected Jesus but that's not enough to name one by the name of the other. Repeating my link on the OG synagogue of satan.
So, while I respect you, your statement about him speaking falsely is not objectively true, because you haven't proven any idea that "synagogue of satan" should logically apply retroactively 60+ years; but time travel does have its way of getting us to make those occasional errors, so I forgive you.

One of the main themes of the book of John is the Jewish religious leaders trying to kill Jesus.

Yes I agree with you "not all Jews."
That's why I quoted Revelation 3:9 "... who say they are Jews and are not..."

Where did I say that and who did I say was speaking falsely? I'm on my phone and scanned it but I'm not seeing
