Dunno, if the bullet entered his neck at an upward angle after bouncing off the chest plate then I could imagine blood spraying back in that direction. Hardly as conclusive as the narrator claims IMHO.
He was not wearing a chest plate. The people doing CPR on the way to the hospital made no mention of that. And you can see in the earlier pictures that it's just a plain t-shirt with no plate under it.
The "outline" you're seeing is the billowing from what I think was his microphone battery pack detonating in front of his right shoulder and under the shirt - under that black square that you can see in the photos.
