The ballot counting machines used in the latest Gavin Newsom Recall in San Diego county weren’t registered with the state. I checked.

I was given the serial numbers by a very condescending Andrew McDonald — the guy in charge.

McDonald told me they were registered with the state.

McDonald lied.

Piles of ballots processed through those machines without even one of them being FOR the recall.

Statistically improbable.

McDonald is now working Nevada — where he was involved in changing ballot machines.

Having lived in California, they also don't ever check your ID when you vote. At least they never did for me. Which means you could register as a Frenchman named Pierre Delecto and show up and vote as Pierre Delecto and never have to prove that you are indeed Pierre Delecto.

That sounds like the stupidest thing ever conceived. Your just asking for your elections to be stolen.

I'm late to the party on this, but California pays NGOs $10 - $20 billion per year to hunt down illegals and register them for ITIN numbers and benefits. Once they get benefits, they are sent a voter registration card. Allegations have been made that the registration card numbers are tracked. If the migrant didn't register to vote themselves, someone registers on their behalf and votes for them on their behalf. The migrants have no idea they're voting. Here in Michigan, we must produce our drivers license to vote. But if you dont have it you can sign an affidavit saying you do have one allowing you to vote. But is there followup? Nope. So in real terms, Michigan does not require ID to vote.

Some counties, like San Joaquin, will even allow you to print the ballot yourself off the website once you're registered, and you can fax or mail it back.

So it seems one can go here to register: https://registertovote.ca.gov/

Remember that legally any citizen living abroad has the right to vote in the last place within the US that they lived - this includes military and expats. (Or the last place in the US their parent or guardian lived if it's a citizen who never lived in the US.) These situations do happen legitimately, but I'd be surprised if they actually verify anything- asking for ID might violate someone's human rights or trigger them or something. (/s for the ID checking ofc)

It doesn't ask for ID or anything else if you're a citizen abroad or who has never lived in the US, but does want an address. It says you need to bring "proof of residence" when you show up to the polling place the first time. It doesn't seem to verify anything, and asks the ways in which you prefer to receive your ballot: by mail, email, or fax.

San Joaquin County's website lets a registered voter print the ballot themselves and mail or fax it in.

I'm sure that they check every one is a citizen and not registered somewhere else (/s of course)
