I hate to rain on your parade but your celebration over the passage of Prop 50 will need to wait a few days.
You have been sued. Your unconstitutional racial gerrymandering is now heading to a federal three-judge panel and maybe to the SCOTUS to determining if your use of race in drawing congressional districts should be enjoined.
We are asking the court to require the old maps to be in effect while we litigation your unconstitutional actions.
I am in Sacramento atm, not that far away from the Capital. As it turns out it is raining. I don't know if there was a parade planned, but I do know that there are a few people who are celebrating the "victory" over the "evil redistricting plans of the Republicans" (which itself was a previous redistricting plan by the Democrats, but we don't talk about that).
As for me, I don't give a crap either way. It's all theatre. I'm just happy it's raining! Happy Rain Day!
Must be a bit hard for a judge to allow obvious racial gerrymandering, but I guess many of them just judge how they are told to judge. We will just have to wait and see.
technically, his gerrymandering is racial in that California is 50% illegal adults, traffickers & migrants.
The courts would not see it that way, the gerrymandering in California would be political, arguing that Democrats need the representation they deserve as the recognized majority.
I think that politically the solution will be 2026 paper ballots, andRepublicans will pick up 5 seats in the House of Rep. and State Assembly, and maybe State Senate. Their ballot initiative will have a reverse effect on them.
Newscum will be drowning in legal battles until Trump keeps office in 2028. Remember how the Dems kept saying,” Trump will be tied up in legal battles too much to campaign” back in 2023-2024? Funny how the tables turn and all of them are now drowning in legal issues and indictments.
