Solarian Society. At least "Earthmen" still hated them for the most part. And with social media, etc, we're well on our way to preferring "viewing" to seeing lol
Look folks, this was always inevitable. The trajectory for technology was pointing to this before we were born.
The best path forward is at best, an experimental one and perhaps at worse the version "war-gamed" out already.
There is indeed a fit within our societal structures world-wide. We have the tech. That marriage has already happened.
We are approaching a rather "edgy" precipice. It requires an entirely new set of rules. Our history in such paradigm shifs has proven to either build guardrails to high to hurdle or we do literally nothing and turn it loose into the wild.
Maybe it is time human beings on the planet got inolved to steer this in the right direction... whereby, it potently and unarguably elevates the planet and serves the inhabitants (us). Otherwise, who else would be the architects? That would be the "not us" characters in the movie.
...interesting times.
Just remember to proceed with no fear. Fear will warp and sway our design.
I don't mind the personal robot concept itself. Its all of the data of our activities going up to the cloud that bothers me. Hell, we cannot even control this on our little smart phones yet.
That really is my point... that is, the "cloud" and control is one part of the design. A very powerful component indeed! It can be used to increase the effectiveness of the personalized robots... and that is a good thing. The protection we need is really quite simple. None of the product/project components can be weaponized in any way. It can't be used to manipulate a populace nor leverage against them.
That is the precipice this technology brings us to. A bonafied "inflection point" in our design, delivery and use (and protections).
I think we need a new "lens" to evaluate this from.
The issues will be around what to do about people.
What happens to individuals who lose their sense of purpose because they don't have a job? What happens to a society that doesn't need to work and has everything provided to them with UBI or some other form? How does that system handle the varying needs and wants of individuals? How will it contend with the perception of haves and have-nots without punishing people?
I've asked many people who support UBI or socalism/communism in general (who claim it's never been done correctly) these questions, and they never have an answer other than something along the lines of becoming less materialistic, as they hold an iPhone and a latte...
I've read a good deal of sci-fi, and I've yet to come across an author who doesn't incorporate at least some aspects of communism into their vision of future society.
I see quite the opposite... at least in phase one. Imagine living daily without the mundane tasks. This frees up your time. Having robots doesn't insinuate you do nothing. It means you have more time to pursue real interests and skills. This is one of the upsides.
The real issue is how to contain what the next step would be... weaponizing the tech against us.
Watching robot dogs and human shapes do cartwheels and back flips in beer commercials does not impress me. Why ? because they don't have to have the "Software" ready yet, just the millions of hardware pieces that WILL Be reprogrammed and upgraded. Then its too late.
The reports are all over from electronics employees inside the robot factories freaking out! They are telling us these places are dark and running 24/7/365. The AI might just take them all over at once.
Why do we need robots to work in an office and why do we need them with arms and legs? Answering machines dont need arms legs and heads or programming that does more rhan connect 2 callers.
There's no stopping AI and if the robots do all the labor humans can start learning again. The real problem will be corporate greed. The corporations will have to comply with some very unusual Human rights laws that will be written in the near future. Not the fucking DEI bullshit rights.
The best thing that could happen at this point is an emp that destroys all electronic equipment.
I, Robot comes to mind.
How can anyone not see this? We've been shown Terminator, IRobot and others. Yet here we are.
Solarian Society. At least "Earthmen" still hated them for the most part. And with social media, etc, we're well on our way to preferring "viewing" to seeing lol
He just described your average public servant. At least the robots won’t have to be paid for doing nothing.
No. Just no.
Wait what about over population and power consumption, which is their food of choice, Oh I see Humans will no longer be needed?
They will harvest humans for energy like in the Matrix

-my two cents

People are more interested in the Terminator rather than the Jetsons, I guess...

Unfortunately we already know what many non-working people's interests are. Drugs, alcohol, sex, petty arguments, mischief of all kinds.
Fucking Elon, bouncing between saving humanity and then speedrunning its demise
Have we learned nothing from science fiction? 😬
Sky net is going to build itself...
Payroll taxes are the way to stop this.
If they work 16 hours a day, they pay twice as much,
OMG,Black Fridays would NEVER be the same!!!😁
yeah no pass
In the words of Sara Connor, "what could go wrong"?

just give me a robot that does my laundry and yardwork
Like the reward on the bike sliding the stick into his own spokes…just stick a stick between the robot moving parts…

Ask someone in a wheelchair.
He's gonna call it Robbie. Because "Robbie, the robot" is a good guy. It will, inevitably call itself either Colossus, or Skynet.
This whole thing is stupid.
When they build robots that can build robots, we’re in.
Mindlessly regurgitating decades of Hollywood bullshit about AIs doesn't mean you actually understand AI. It means you've been programmed like one.

Hmmmm we’re FUCK (someone posted in 2025 (years ago), we should of listened)
