LGBTQ+ advocacy group complains that almost half of the queer characters on TV will be gone by next year
A new report from the GLAAD Media Institute, an extortion racket that threatens Hollywood creators if their films and shows aren't gay enough, published a report warning that 41% of the LGBTQ+ characters on TV will be gone by next year.
I had already noticed this starting a couple years ago. One of the first changes I had noticed when Star Trek: Picard season 3 came out was that all but one of the new characters introduced in the series (meaning not from previous Trek shows) were gone and the one they kept was the "conspiracy theorist who keeps turning out to be right" character. While in season 2 she and an existing character had suddenly been bi and having a lesbian relationship from out of nowhere that apparently started offscreen between seasons, well in season 3 it's not even brought up except for one line from a third character and the two react like "shut up we don't want to even acknowledge it ourselves."
Among those that are gone, did they where red shirts. That would explain the disappearances.
No they were major characters in seasons 1 and 2. One is explained as he stayed back in the past at the end of season 2 but the others just vanished and I recall no mentions of them off doing anything they just don't get brought up. Picard season 3 is essentially The Next Generation season 8 given the writing style and the sheer number of characters from TNG who are in it (they even brought a salvaged Enterprise-D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXVkle0d8Is)
Interesting thing about season 3 is that the plot involved an assimilation plot (a Borg mind-virus of sorts) which only affected people under the age of 30 leaving old people to save the day at the end of the season.
I was just thinking about Star Trek. All I’ve seen of the new ones is the first season of Discovery and the first few of the second and it went from tolerably sprinkled with wokeness to full retard so far. I am hoping it turns around at some point as well.
An OG fan of Star Trek. James T. Kirk was the best. Since it got so woke in later years, just stopped watching it altogether. Sad.
Now I might want to try Picard S. 3, based on your review.
