The Youth are often either broke financially and or otherwise. Working so much they have little desire to go out clubbing. Or they’re using various kinds of other narcotics. So there’s less alcohol consumption in that field.
And the Middle Aged to early elderly people are turning to the various forms of Cannabis products now that they are largely legal. They may still drink on occasion. But nowhere near the quantities their parents and grandparents did.
The primary consumers of alcohol are going to be the tried and true alcoholics. Or the Wine and Spirits snobs. Who can afford the ultra high end shit.
Some fascinating research links indicates there is some correlation between our declining alcohol consumption and subsequently declining birth rates. Or to put it in laymans terms. There’s less booze fueled flings.
