There are multiple America First reasons for Trump to have authorized the military action. Oil, in and of itself, really wasn't the reason. Depriving China of oil, more like the reason. It was providing an open door to the USA for Russia, China, Iran, Cuba. Locking Venezuela down actually was for national security.
