This was the period of prohibition - where illicit cash pretty much propped up the entire economy. SO MUCH MONEY changed hands it would make your head spin.

If you look at the most popular - literally BLOCK BUSTING moving pictures (movies) that came out in the early days, they were ALL centered around gangsters and crime.
Now take it one step further, where they've used "movie magic" to shape public opinion and control the narrative in the ongoing war for "the story" of what's really happening... They've used it in conjunction with military intelligence, the OSS and 🤡s throughout the years to sell wars, social ideas and to push whatever propaganda steers minds, emotions and ultimately decisions public makes.
Hollyweird NEVER belonged to "public" - EVER. Just like the playhouses and theatres "way back when" didn't belong to the average slob either - they belonged to the King, or one of his lords for the sole purpose of swaying opinion in whatever direction benefitted them the most. Shakespeare answered to the queen.
Don't be fooled. Even "your movie culture" doesn't belong to you. But you can pay for it. Now... about that space program and who's going...
When horrywood began in the silent era its metric was porn disguised as history, comedy, cowboy movies and morality tales, ie: weepies.
It was said that all they ever did was copy, it is said that in the first few years they had done just about everything that the cinema is capable of and from then on they repeated themselves.
There are thousands of people who never got the chance to work in Hollywood, either in front of or behind the camera, because they didn't align with the manifesto.
And there are some who briefly got their big break, but refused the apple never to be heard from again.
Hopefully once the entire thing hits a wall, we'll get another shot

Hollywood is a business, and like all businesses, chases after creating the cheapest possible product. Fact: Other countries are stealing work away from us with better tax incentives, and having no, or government covered healthcare. I noticed a lot of production ramping up in the UK at the start of the Russian denazification of Ukraine.
Production only cares about the bottom line. The fact is, politicians in California always banked on the fact that “Hollywood” LA would always be the center of production. The state/local government has been fleecing productions with fees, permits, and regulations making production more expensive. Hollywood truly started in New Jersey, and because of stronger tax incentives in New York + New Jersey, as well as having more access to stage space, it is returning.

I have seen so many movies and series that supposedly take place in the USA, then in the credits you see that it was filmed in Canada, and sponsored by the Canadian film tax credit.

I have noticed more big stars doing commercials. I even commented on it and wondered if it was because Hollywood was being shut down, in a sense.
I noticed that too and some low rent commercials for cheesy phone games.

Go look at the new Star Trek series, Starfleet Academy. I just saw a ad for it. I stopped watching in 2016 or about so Im not missing anything.
