She’s essentially shooting for a snap election so she can get a bigger majority. We’ll see how it plays out.

They still have an Emperor. He just doesn't have any/much legal power.
It's like how the UK still has a King but their Prime Minister is the one with the legal power.
I think it is just an early election, parliamentary systems do that sometimes.
