You guys realize that the shutdowns every 2 years or so aren't only for what they say they are for, right?
Consider this - if they shutdown and it lasts past the first or second week in December (depending on each state's laws) it will be too late to add another candidate into the running for the House or Senate. I know in Texas this year the last date allowed for someone wanting to run was Dec 8th, 2025. I know because I checked it when my CONgressman voted to keep the funding for NED. I would've put my name into the mix just to give people another choice since no other republicans are challenging him this year.
Now why would they want to get past that date? Look at the numbers of fake republicans that voted for this and the kill-switch bills. It is too late to hold them accountable until the next election - when most people will have forgotten. It's how the uniparty survives. They wait until after a shutdown to vote on the really controversial bills that their constituents will want them to vote against. Then they say they had to so the govt could open again - think about the "kids|seniors|poor people".
I've never seen this idea published anywhere, but I can't be the only one that has noticed it.
I think we determined that was not completely accurate. There was a dig during the shutdown but thereβs no magic length of time that gives president more power

If the shutdown goes past a certain amount of time it gives POTUS a lot of options. I think itβs six weeks.

Very interesting find indeed! I hope this draws more attention
