I'm 72 and I remember when we used to have measles parties. When a kid contracted measles their parents would throw a little party and all the kid's friends that hadn't had the measles would go to the party. The idea was to get everyone infected and build their immunity. There were also chickenpox parties to intentionally get the kids infected with chickenpox. Neither measles or chickenpox were dangerous to kids, but they can be dangerous to adults. So basically they were natural vaccination parties.
Yup. I remember chickenpox not being a big deal. But the measles was a little more significant, but both were common. My brother in law is deaf in one ear from the measles.
This would be back in the 60s. And then there was mumps. I dont remember much about that one.
Yeah I was born in 1953. The mumps were a little different. We weren't allowed to do anything strenuous, mostly just sit around. There was always the risk that the mumps would fall or drop. I never really understood what it meant. A friend of mine contracted mumps later in life when he was in the military. He passed out in the shower and doctors told him his mumps dropped. According to him later on one of his testicles shriveled up.

I really hope we start collectively thinking in those old ways, again.
It's quite possible measles is a childhood detox reaction from something in modern society and is required by our body for adult health.
