About 40 years ago, a relative asked me if there were any supplements that might help her with arthritis in her hands; her doctor said there just wasn't any way to prevent it from getting worse and she should plan on having to quit her office job because her hands simply wouldn't be able to type and do other necessary things. He prescribed a (dangerous) painkiller, and that was all.
At the time, it was already well-known that Glucosamine/Chondroitin (they're often sold together in a single capsule), SAMe, and a few other things WERE HELPFUL -- often very much so -- to arthritis patients.
Were doctors IGNORANT of that, or simply callous towards their patients and wanting to keep the customer on the hook as long as possible?
In any case, my relative chose to use 800mg of SAMe daily and nothing else (I'd have used everything with evidence of efficacy, but that's me). Her hands were fine in a few months and have REMAINED fine ever since.

I have 2 partially torn rotator and could not lift my arm over my head. Could not apply DSMO on shoulders myself. Wife had to do it.
2 weeks of daily application of the roller ball full strength DMSO and I can apply it myself and no pain raising arms.

You do NOT use a dropper to dissolve it in water and then drink it?
I use a dropper, put some on a q-tip, and brush it on my skin (usually a joint). I don't dilute it any more than it is in the bottle (70% or 99%; I use both and don't find much difference).

I had her dilute the DMSO in a full glass of water before drinking it, much like she now does with baking soda.
