I understand it’s a ponzi. But I have paying into if for 42 years and will need it. Can it be saved?

Even though he doesn’t say it explicitly, I think President Trump has a plan for saving Social Security.
Tariffs to increase revenues and decrease deficit spending. Lower deficits undercut calls to cut Social Security.
Tariffs to unleash a domestic manufacturing boom. Increased employment, better wages, increased tax and social security revenues.
End the Federal Reserve and the exorbitant interest rates the Government is paying. As President Trump has pointed out, we could be actually be reducing the National Debt, if we had an appropriate prime rate.
Establish a Sovereign Wealth Fund that accumulates wealth versus the current approach which erodes wealth.
Buy time. As a person from the final years of the baby boom, I like this the least, but it’s reality. The life expectancy in the U.S. is 79 years which means a significant percentage of the baby boomers will be gone over the next 10 to 15 years. This will dramatically decrease the amount of Social Security being paid out.
Looks like for now tariffs are out the door after the SCOTUS ruling.
I wish I could find it, but someone here predicted that SCOTUS would block the tariffs levied under the IEEPA, but they gave examples of how the Trump Administration had other avenues to levy tariffs. Since it was a comment and not a post it’s practically impossible to find.

Yes, thank-you. After I made that comment, I read further the pathways that DJT could take and which he did take. I appreciate your feedback. If your two sons are indeed marines, please thank them on my behalf for their service. Not all young men and women today are capable/able or willing to train so rigorously as is required to be a marine. We are all safer by having your sons in such an esteemed position. May God keep them safe.
