In 2014, the Obama admin financed a color revolution in Ukraine and set up a puppet government.
This pushed the people in the Donbas region of Ukraine to pass a referendum in 2014 to leave Ukraine and rejoin Russia. Remember, this was once territory that belonged to Russia and these were Russian people living there.
This was followed by the Azov battalion of Ukrainian armed forces bombing its own people in Donetsk. Ukraine did not want this territory going back to Russian control, so they decided to kill everyone living there. Estimates were 10,000 people died in Donetsk, killed by their own government.
Does Ukraine have the right to kill the Russian people living in this region? Russia didn't think so. So, Russia stepped in to save the lives of the people living in Donetsk/ Donbas region.
Negotiations for peace in the Ukraine / Russia war continue because of the disagreements over Russia controlling this region of Ukraine. Russia wants it, Ukraine refuses to give it up.
