Even this site here is dogshit clone of Reddit style of a forum. The old school vB style was so much better and easier to search through, write long orderly threads etc. And these days so much of a chunk of conversations happen in the black hole called Discord, where only the tech overlords who log everything said on it can actually search through the convos later.
Dont get me started on the website layouts.
Giant fucking tiles and text that magically appears and the page jumping all over the place as you browse it, entire pages of space for 1 word, scroll your thumbs off, shit absolute shit compared to classic sites.
4chan and 8ch are still here but that's got its own set of dogshit to contend with, but thankfully they're here and some other legendary places. But overall the internet has been destroyed.
Windows dumbed down computers so retards could go online. Make DOS great again. I used computers since I was 4 with an Apple IIe. It was a total different experience...because I was in control and didn't have some algo trying to think what I want to do next.
Linux is the best of both worlds now. Powerful and scriptable CLI running the system, (multiple!) well developed GUI(s) on top of it, but free instead of stapled to the $2000 price tag of a Macbook.

I like a GUI myself but I agree with your overall point
