Chief Warrant Officers are somewhere in between Normal Officers and the Enlisted. Many of the privileges of being an officer without any of the extraneous duties. Allowing them to be ‘Subject matter experts’ while simultaneously avoiding time consuming duties that come with formal leadership positions.
Essentially they’re the right mix of technical skill and rank. That when they are attached to infantry units at least they can get away with shenanigans that Officers and Enlisted usually can’t manage.
Important enough rank wise that they can get out of many of the busywork details the enlisted and NCOs usually have to do on Garrison. Not to mention things like being at formation at the ass crack of dawn. Without many questions being asked. Leading to the joke they can virtually disappear for days at a time and no one notices. And drawing comparisons to them being near mythical creatures and that some enlisted men could go their entire careers only seeing a Warrant Officer a handful of times. With seeing a CW5 being considered the equivalent of seeing a Unicorn.
While simultaneously being skilled enough technically that they usually don’t get bothered by Officers unless things are turning into a major Dumpster Fire.
Look at all that salad hanging there, and I bet they are all hard fought for and earned and not participation trophy's like many,
Captain America hell, Warrant Officer America for the win.
I am glad he is on our side.
TBH. I’m not sure what’s more shocking. The fact he got the Medal of Honor. Or the fact he is a Warrant Officer 5 and actually showed up.
Though I suppose being invited by the Commander and Chief to the State of the Union is a little different than avoiding formation
Explain context of rank.

Warrant officer 5 is the top of the food chain for warrants.
I've never seen anyone look more Squared Away than this young man or as POTUS would say, "Tom Cruise only better looking...Central Casting"
Tom Cruise like Disneyland 3/5 size
Chief Warrant Officer Eric Slover Full size
Exactly oak! 😸
He could make movies like Audi Murphy did.
Maybe when they clean out Hollywood and they want to make patriotic movies again.
That would be glorious!
