It's about intention.

When leftist wave foreign flags in America, they're proclaiming the dominance of that other country over the US.

When these Iranians are waving flags while chanting "USA", I'm assuming they're just happy for their homeland being liberated by the US.

What makes you think they aren't assimilated if they're cheering the US and chanting "USA"?

Because I'm German, English & French and I don't own any flag but an American flag so they are not assimilated.
