#2 makes sense, but only if it is very widespread. Being martyred is a sought-after bonus in Islam, and I've actually seen posts saying the the deaths of Iran's leaders is seen by many fundamentalists as good -- they died in the cause and that's praiseworthy.
#3 is what I think will really do the trick, if anything does. And it's part of the general Great Awakening, including OUTING every evil group there is, every organization that pushes death or Satanism or hatred or tyranny or other unhealthy, vile action, system, culture, or system.
