Oh man - I hated SXSW time when I lived there and traveled every week. On the occasions where first class was full so I didn't get upgraded, it was impossible to find any overhead room. All of it was filled with guitars and other instruments. A lot of music producers and record execs bought up all the first class so I never (as an AA Executive Platinum) even stood a chance for the upgrade I got every other week I traveled. I learned to not schedule during that time.
Same for when I was in San Diego weekly and Comic-con came around. Flights and hotels were at a $eriou$ premium - if you could even find one. I stayed in Texas and worked from home during that time.
I was just there Wednesday, crazy line but still only about 30 minutes to get through. It's not related to tsa its south by southwest conference time.
I think the Austin rodeo starts next week also.
