With sports teams, heavy tax subsidies are involved in the teams’/leagues’ bottom lines. It could easily be argued they’re public entities.
I’m not familiar with NASCAR’s ownership structure, but wouldn’t be surprised at all.
Even in the case of “it was just Columbia graduates”, those people were still brainwashed using public money, which arguably makes it a downstream government op.

You're bringing up something really important. The money changing hands in nascar is super sketchy.
