If Paul did actually die then they somehow lucked into another ALL TIME GREAT songwriter / performer / musician, architect of one of the greatest albums of all time in Sgt Pepper's, and the band's de facto leader until their breakup. It makes zero sense.
Honestly I believe it was an early attempt at an ARG. The mystery and the little hints dropped brought the band even more attention. And the rumors were prevalent even through the 80s. I remember the band Klaatu were rumored to actually be the Beatles... It was crazy.
My music teacher was who brought the conspiracy to our attention.
However, if you look at the replacement theory, Satanism, sacrificing something in exchange for the ultimate gift, you begin to see things that don't make sense the other way.
