I knew Greenland was going to come up again. If NATO countries are just going to pick and choose when we can use bases on their territories, the need for us to have sovereignty over them becomes obvious.
I didn't know much about the townships and cities of Greenland until its annexation came up in the discourse, and then we all had to learn about them and the people who live there. They are small, prosperous and pretty crime-free. If they are 'poorly run', 99% of the areas of most cities are worse off. And cesspools like Chicago, Portland and LA are beyond compare.
Agree 100% on the NATO thing however - you have to test all your emergency kits, plans, supplies and such routinely to be sure that they are viable if/when you need them. NATO fails the viability test, not just once but over and over. If it was ever viable, which in the power vacuum of Warsaw pact post-collapse was doubtful since how are you measuring it against the circumstances that warrant its use? In the current era when any random African terrorist in a raft can sail right through NATO like it never existed and get to murdering and raping immediately with impunity, it long ago should have been thrown out.
NATO was designed to thwart Soviet aggression. Once it fell, NATO immediately became irrelevant. There was consensus when the USSR still existed. Now, not much consensus. Especially since the mid 90s when the EU started buying Russian LNG, Coal, & Diesel, among other commodities. Greed corrupts absolutely, however, and the NATO nations got used to spending their money on luxury items.
The American People have voted on this, as far as I'm concerned, and the mandate on continued NATO and UN memberships is clear. Get on with the gettin' on and get us out of those messes.
