French version: “We’ve fallen apart slowly without noticing.”
English version: “I’ve lived my life exactly how I chose.”
I’m a big fan of crooners and I’ve come to love French crooners along the way. I know the French version was a pop song, but it popped up on a crooner mix I listened to one day. My French is good enough to understand the sentiment and sadness of the song. But, it was a surprise to learn the song was originally French.
Leave it to the French to try to avoid owning the consequences of their own inaction/action.
