When I was writing a specific story for Endless-Sky, where player encounters some lawyer deep state fixer (I would have said shady lawyer, but that would be a pleonasm), I have her say this:

Stay away from buying or leasing new cars. From 2018 or about all new cars are just a gigantic cellphone you can drive that tracks your driving habits. Car companies then take take these & sell them to the insurance companies. You drove too fast & breaked too hard, pay up when your police is set for renewal.
You will own nothing and be happy
