Good Grief ! No disrespect all arrest are good , but come on : with all the fraud treason and every Friken thing else we are arresting car thief's and that's headline news .
JUST IN: U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro announces a 15-count federal indictment against an INTERNATIONAL AUTO THEFT RING accused of using new technology to steal cars in under a minute.
“No smashed windows, no drama… just a sleek electronic device… and in under a minute, the car’s brain is rewritten. The car is gone in 60 seconds. Welcome to the new world of car theft.”
Autel keeps a massive part of the automotive service industry moving. They're very capable tools and far more affordable than the snap on equivalent, but still short of fully o.e capable. They've also not THAT fast? And some brands like ford have a 10 minute unlocking period on the immobilizer. Genuine autel tools are all fairly spendy for the common criminal but there's plenty of knockoff in street thug price range.
The real issue isn't the diagnostic tooling, it's the obsession with push to start instead of physical keys. Nearly all keyless start vehicles will continue to run without the key present until the next key cycle. With signal boosters they can ping your key fob on your nightstand or countertops or wall hook and the car sees YOUR key when they push the button. Car starts, they leave. Programming new keys happens later at their safe location.
If we weren't still headed for a total surveillance state IoT hellscape, cars wouldn't have "brains" to "rewrite".
By design...

So they couldn't steal older cars without computers? Add that to the list of reasons why should have the option of building old school cars.
It's a long list.
2.7 USD trillion from Medicade Medicare to overseas . This is where the fraud is
