In the case of these recent disappearances/deaths of scientists, it is the result of already ongoing purges taking place within the military industrial complex of China. There is quite a list of high profile players and scientists with connection to the military that have recently been under investigation. Some have simply disappeared with little official explanation if at all. The purge started last year after the subpar weapons procurement and manufacturing apparatus became glaringly apparent. The entire system is corrupt. Military equipment is made to serve political goals rather than strategic objectives. Whatever looks impressive on paper for the media/brochures and in parades. But underneath the impressive facade lies a weak heart. Very little matches the boasted hype on paper when actually put to the test.
The purges recently accelerated after the miserable performance of Chinese weapons was exposed on the global stage and the CCP's usual casting blame game would no longer work. The CCP last year instituted a top down audit of the entire military system - a first. The extent of the corruption is enormous. Many top generals also were purged. The entire PLA command structure has been gutted. Political loyalty is the benchmark, not competence. The CCP is eating itself.

Also, all these scientists dying is reminiscent of how communist governments kill the intelligencia in their country first, before the masses. Could we just be seeing this on a global scale?

This actually goes way back. I need to dig and find my old research on this but it started really happening 15+ years ago. It was crazy maybe it was doctors not scientists but same deal. I think they had cures and were suddenly unalived. Same deal stating not suicidal and then boom gone

I was watching the latest Overwatch & The Guardian the other day and they were discussing how "missing" or "unalived" scientists whether self induced or other is a GLOBAL phenomenon right now.
They discussed the alleged 500 year leap in technology, that supposedly would occur over a 20 year period - and mentioned something in regard to these scientists that I hadn't yet considered...
Follow the money - What if ... this is all a result of protecting a company's intellectual property, patents and work they've spent decades developing?
Think about it.... You're part of the military industrial complex and you've got super secret squirrel technology that represents a serious game changer in say energy...or propulsion...or even AI. This tech would allow you to essentially have "first dibs" and market dominance when the time is right for release/roll out to the world... You've got BILLIONS invested in it and other things along the same line...
And then.... a proverbial "low cost or open source "market interruptor" comes along, like an MIT student publishing his amazing "game changing " tech - that threatens to render their market dominating solution they're keeping in the wings ready to roll out at the most opportune time - WORTHLESS!. Billions lost... along with a healthy dose of egg all over their faces because some MIT punk wants to give it away for free...
MIC says, nay-nay... and their jackals are released to eliminate the threat to their future gravy train. Notice that "compliance and enforcement " is not focused in one area, or one country - their interests are monitored & protected GLOBALLY. It reminds me of that Russell Crowe movie about Big Tobacco - The Insider great movie BTW
Now THAT makes perfect sense to me from an occums razor/keep it simple, stupid perspective. I don't know about that 500 year leap just yet, but the whole corporate espionage etc things are VERY real and all these people disappearing, might just be one more thing to protect the precious "dividends and responsibility to our shareholders".
