Q1: Senator Rand Paul (R, KY) seems likely to run for president in 2028.
In an interview Saturday, he was asked what distinguishes him from the likely GOP front-runners Marco Rubio and JD Vance.
Rand replied that unlike those two, he is for a balanced budget even if it means cutting into military spending, he is against the war in Iran, and he believes trade makes our country richer.

Q2: Governor Wes Moore (D, MD) seems likely to run for president in 2028. In an interview Friday he said that the country should end the practice of closed primaries at the local, state, and national level.
Closed primaries, which are by a wide margin the most common type in the country, allow only those registered with a party to vote in that party’s primaries. Moore argues this excludes the 50% of voters that are independent from voting until general elections, which not only disenfranchises them, but results in extreme and unpopular general election candidates.
Open primaries come in several forms, the most common being where any registered voter can vote in just one primary in a given race, but they can choose which one. A Democrat can vote in the Democratic or Republican primary but not both. Same for a Republican, and same for an independent.
