It is ridiculous that we have allowed foreign entities to own our land and we have been doing it for decades. It drives prices up for average Americans to the point they can no longer compete with those that walk in and pay cash from overseas through proxies. Many of those Chinese owners are not even in the country.
US House just PASSED the amendment to the Farm Bill BANNING China, Russia, Iran & other foreign adversaries from buying American farmland.
It'd be really nice if Bill Gates could be added to the above list as a domestic adversary. His holdings compete in acreage with that of China, apparently. Why would Gates be buying farmland in mass except to decommission it?
All property owned in the US by them needs to be reviewed - especially within a certain radius of military or other sensitive instillations. China is notorious for making land purchases through shell companies to obscure ownership.
Also include countries,that do not allow americans to own land.
