The leaders of Iran are rabid followers of an apocalyptic death cult that seeks to bring the end of the world and the return of the list I am through nuclear war.
They practice Taqiyya -- the art of lying to infidels.
Whatever they sign is a meaningless subterfuge. The only safe solution is to turn Iran back over to the Persian people.
I think Trump and his team know this. He is pushing Iran into a corner, partly through diplomacy. He is leading allies (Israel, the Saudis, most of the Gulf countries) through a persuasion process, to agree they must pull the trigger, decapitate the regime, and give support to the Persian people. No invasion or occupation, but some special forces. We get the uranium. Iran lashing out at all neighbors was predictable and part of the plan to align them with Trump.
The IRGC and Basij are now weakened, fragmented, and heavily surveilled. Trump has a sure bet: there’s no way they can stand up to an alliance of the US, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and most of their rich neighbors. Iran's biggest allies (Russia and China) are in no shape to help. Trump sells it as a muscular, decisive regime change, an affordable end to an “unsolvable” problem of their top enemy, and with big long-term financial benefits. The Art of the Deal.
TL;DR: Trump will go all the way and end the regime. The diplomacy is for the public, for misdirection, and for justification.
They're not the leaders, FM is foriegn minister, their ambassador.
If you mean Trump, well the US president is a whole other category unto itself. If needed multiple aircraft carrier groups would be used as escort for Airforce One, easily 50-100 ships. Enough firepower to topple any country, or collection of countries in the world.
We can also land entire divisions of troops and tank brigades in the matter of a couple-few days anywhere in the world. Again, escort duty is not an issue.
I think i get your meaning. When we think war, an idea of danger at all times, limited communication, air dominance all come to mind.
The reality of today's wars, however, don't bear out to match our imaginations. For example, the US has air and sea dominance in Iran, but the blockades are limited to Iranian military movements. Civillian and commercial travel that don't include military supplies are as normal, and are not affected by the US (if Iran is doing something is another matter). Their diplomats also would not be prevented per se, and I dont see the FM being stopped in any way. Short of full open warfare, diplomats typically have wide lattitude of movement, which history bears out.
.
Ukraine is a bit of a red herring, that "war" is around 80% manufactured and does not encompass the entire nation, so there are many obvious ways for officials to travel.
When you think about it, yes Zelensky should be in his country managing/leading his country through this sustained "war".
Reality is he is nothing but a puppet and grifter, dancing for his masters. The actual fighting was over soon after it began (couple/few months).
In general, Russia is much closer to the US as far as logistics and capabilities than is given credit. What the US did to Iran could easily have been done by Russia if they wanted to project force, in almost the same timeline, but far less restraint and more non-combatant casualties.

I think the objectives of Ukraine op and Iran op are very different.
Iran op was about dismantling the City of London's control structure
Ukraine op was about attritioning City of London's financial web in EU.
But your point about Commercial and Civil travel not affected in Iran is well taken. Infact, it should be broadcast by every honest news.
The point I was making was actually the fact that the "war" in Iran ended a long ago, and everything we are seeing now is just squeezing the balls of CoL.
They don't want to upset President Trump before this big state visit. So yes, I think that these things are all connected." — Peter Doocy
"President Trump has put out publicly and privately messages to the Chinese, 'do not help the Iranians right now. We're trying to isolate them, we're in a war with them, do not help them out.' So the Chinese are very cognizant of that."
China is Iran’s largest trading partner and the primary buyer of Iranian oil. Chinese purchases account for roughly 90 percent of Iran’s exported oil, providing tens of billions of dollars in annual revenue that supports Iran’s government budget and military activities. Beijing and Tehran signed a “comprehensive strategic partnership agreement” in 2021 covering economic, security, and technological cooperation over a 25-year period.
The blockade is likely impacting China on a fairly large scale.
President Trump knew it wouldn't be long for Xi drop to his knees. Without China, Iran's "bite" will become toothless. Edit: Finally getting some support. Macron is sending an Aircraft carrier to the Strait. Better than nothing.
I am such a sourpuss about the Macron government. Better than nothing? If the French naval commanders practice precise coordination (which, I suppose, is possible; they are not stupid or incompetent), maybe okay. Otherwise, they could wind up as the chimpanzee at the ball: a conspicuous, uncontrollable nuisance.
History makes the heartache. We owe a tremendous historical debt to the French and their assistance in the War of Independence (e.g., Battle of Yorktown and surrender of Great Britain). I have a dear cousin who is half French by parentage. I worked on the French part of a German-French missile project, and admired its highly integrated design. Many things to admire about the French. But their government is not one of them.
You need to remember two key things

I dont get how these leaders of countries at war can jet around to other countries, lol.

I was referring to the FM (equivalent to Sec of State in US) and also Zelensky (even when Ukraine war was full speed). Its kinda funny thats all.
Gotcha. Same answer applies.

Ahhhhh, ok!
And great points about both actions. It is easy to over generalize. Keeping focused on the particulars does help.
True and well said. 👍
A PASSPORT is a military document asking for safe passage for an emissary.

China knows!
Let's just follow the money, shall we?

No planes though.

I came here to say that! Well done.
Kind.
It was a French Exocet that almost ended the USS Stark.
And Dassault Mirage III's that almost ended the USSLiberty
I wouldn't let them bring planes either
Speaking of other country's aircraft, growing up I thought the Saab 37 Viggen was a cool fighter due to it's "extra wings."
French Pilots needed the help ...they were the Long Easy before it was.

Not easy enough to keep John Deutschendorf Jr. (John Denver ) alive though.

I can hear it now. "Open Strait and give Trump what he wants or we help him remove IRGC from planet."
Trust Neither.... jmo
Not our friends, do not have OUR (US) interests in mind. They both hate us.
China just wants oil
Key word: Again.....
