"Urban teens" will help themselves to the soda fountain despite not having purchased a soda. Sure, there's always someone who will do it, but some people make a habit of it.
Things must have changed? My brother had an Arby's for many years. He said that drinks cost him 10 cents, cup and drink. They charge , what ?, a buck fify ? Have to get a lot of refills to loose money on drinks. Somebody at Mc D's just screwed up.
I read an article yesterday saying that McDs is 'doing' this to open up more dining room space and remove the additional work of keeping the drink center cleaned up several times per day. Article said that free refills are still available but you must take your cup to the counter and request refill. Not sure the 'save money' reason holds water, as you just said.
What is abuse of free refills? It's been that way with McDonalds since the 80's and it's only NOW becoming an issue?
