Dutch police have been ordered to threaten mothers with having their children taken away in an effort to shut down anti-immigration protests sweeping the Netherlands. Johannes M. Koenraadt reports he contacted one terrified mother whose husband was arrested and detained for two hours simply for attending a protest. She says she won't be protesting again.
Dutch state media published articles last week about these "family outings" at protests, warning that the presence of women and children threatens to "normalize the far right." Meanwhile, the mayor of one Dutch town has suggested deploying the military to take over from police forces — who are reportedly upset that the public has turned against them. Koenraadt notes it's the government that is radicalizing, not the protesters.
So not wanting migrant centers for 3rd world foreign men next to schools where children are present, especially young girls, is considered "far right" for wanting to protect their children? Western European civilization is so done. This kind of persecution was the reason many of our own ancestors in the US first came here. Nothing much has changed over the centuries.
Update: The woman from the video says she wasn't even protesting. They were just waiting for friends near the protest. Police came and harassed them, and asked for their IDs, after which one office threatened to call child protection services, while they arrested her husband and detained him for two hours without committing any crime.
I was thinking about this post yesterday. Let's call it what it is: sensational. That doesn't mean its not accurate, but it does mean that it packs a lot of triggering narrative.
For a start, the OP makes a claim but provides zero corroborating evidence:
Dutch police have received orders to start threatening mothers that their children will be taken away.
What does he mean? If TWO police officers received that order, then the statement is 'accurate' but totally misleading. The claim asserts and gives the impression that on a national scale, nationwide, all police have been given such orders. And, aside from this totally ambiguous nature of the claim, he provides zero evidence or references, except..... one example, where a family was harassed.
The fact that they weren't even in the protests implies pure harassment. But, where are the reports of protesters actually being harassed and detained and everything else? That would pack some punch.
It is exceedingly common human nature that in every mix of people you have some really nice people and always some asholes. Always. And, yes, its not unreasonable to assume that among some officers, there are real asholes, willing to use their 'authority'. And, also, some ratbag mayors, etc, Note this.
The mayor of one town suggested to bring in the Dutch military
OK.
Point is, what the OP provides here is about as far from serious evidence that something on a national level is happening, ie. large portions of the national police force being ordered to harass and intimidate anyone close to a protest OR that across the country, local government is moving to get military involved.
It's a sensational story, not investigative reporting. Certain not analysis. It's sensational claims, backed up by two very localized and apparently unrelated incidents.
So, to answer your question:
Where do they even get Dutch cops who will do this to other Dutch people
Note this above. There are always as*holes, in every profession. Every profession. Some worse than others.
Not to be too blunt, but frankly, I think your question totally plays into the sensationalism, and doesn't really have any critical thinking.
Show me a country where there are zero cops who would do anything wrong or despicable to any citizen of that country, and I'll show you a movie made in Hollywood. Actually, not even there. No one would believe it.
So, the question is, yes, it certainly appears that some cops acted like authoritarian thugs, in ONE instance.
Sometimes, HOW the information is shared is more telling that WHAT information is being shared.....
