To all a Happy Pentecost! About 3400 years ago, God gave His Law and made a covenant with the people of Israel at Mt. Sinai written on tables of stone. Then about 2000 years ago, God gave His called out ones--the church---His Holy Spirit and wrote the spiritual aspects of His Law on the hearts of all believers. Happy birthday to the Ekklesia. Celebrate the salvation we have through Jesus our Lord.

What should be one of the largest celebrations every year passes with barely being acknowledged. The gift of the Holy Spirit is the most amazing gift God could give humanity.
He lives inside of us. He gives us His power and authority to use for His work. He guides our every step if we invite Him to be the Lord of our lives.
Bless your people today Lord and remember us, your servants, in these days and times. Draw us nearer to You today.
This.
Same to you. Most are missing the most important remembrance of all. The birth of the Christian church as described in Acts 2.
Iām heading to a Pentecost celebration shortly. šāŖļø
Acts 1:5 hits the hardest.
Knock off the water baptism and move on to the immersion of the Holy Spirit.
Dispensationals!!
Jesus says "not many days from now"
Acts 2:3 -then there appeared to them, divided tongues as of fire and one sat upon each of them.
Acts 2:38 - Peter one of the 12 who had been baptized of the Holy Spirit tells those listening to be baptized and they will receive the Holy Spirit.
Also if we're writing off the entirety of water baptism then what Philip (also one of the 12) does with the Ethiopian Eunuch in Acts 8 is totally uncalled for. Acts 8:36-38
As well as Jesus' Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-19
And what Jesus told Nicodemus in John 3:5
Lydia and her household, the Philippian Jailer and his household, and those in Acts 19 who were baptized again because they hadn't heard of the Holy Spirit.
In those days the HOLY SPIRIT was evident in a person, if they spoke in tongues after being baptized! In Acts 2 tongues was described as other languages. How have speaking in Tongues changed in today's world? We have a few people speak in tongues in our church, but in unknown tongues not in a language. We do have certain people in our church that interpret the unknown tongue. I never hear any of the pastors get tongues or interpret, shouldn't they be speaking in tongues or interpreting if this is to be believed? This is the only thing that I find questionable in my church. BTW- My church is a Pentecostal church!
Hey friend, you're right tongues are different languages and if being spoken should be interpreted. Not everyone had the gift of tongues others had various gifts spoken about by Paul. If you would like I can give you exact verses for everything I said but it will have to be tomorrow.
Paul speaks mostly about unknown tongues! The person speaking in an unknown tongue is talking to GOD, and it must be interpreted to edify the church.
I will say as well, that I have studied German, Korean, Russian, and French and not once was I able to know those languages without study in my 50 years. My stance has been because I cannot prove otherwise, that the miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit stopped with the apostles, for they were the only ones that could pass on the gifts through the laying on of hands Acts 8:17-18.
I truly believe miracles still happen today for I have a 5 month old daughter and I'm an old man. I see life bloom in the spring and yield back in the winter, I see men healed through prayer and made alive again after a bout of depression. Only these interventions could be accomplished by the one true God. So it my understanding that miracles through the hands of a man have stopped for they were only there to prove the veracity of God and we all know who God is now because of the writings of his word IITimothy 3:16.
The indwelling of the Holy Spirit continues for all Christians who are baptized as Jesus states in Matthew 28:18-19 and Peter in Acts 2:38 (and elsewhere) and The indwelling of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:9-17) Does THIS for us which is no small thing also (Romans 8:26) helps us in our prayers and also gives us the ability to produce the fruits of the spirit (Galations 5:22)
Well buddy the experience of thousands is not what you say. Tongues is alive and well. It is mans lack of accurate biblical knowledge that keeps them from recieving the fulness of Gods grace regarding the gift of holy spirit. Id encourage you to look deeper of interested. It is mans greates lever of prayer.
Okay you will have to clarify that Paul was speaking about languages which are not know to people in the world today when he was talking about speaking in tongues. Here are my references.
Acts 2:4 - Began to speak with tongues Acts 2:6 - everyone heard them speak in his own language Acts 2:7-8 - Marveled, saying to one another, "Look are not all these who speak Galileans?" And how is it that we hear each in our own language in which we were born? Acts 2:9-11: Identifys the regions in which they were all from (vast differences of geography and culture)
I Corinthians 12:10-11 - Speaking in tongues and interpreting tongues, also mentions earlier the working of miracles. I Corinthians 14:6 - If I come to you speaking in a tongue, what does it profit? I Corinthians 14:10-11 - There are, it may be so many kinds of langues in the world, and non of them is without significance. Therefore if I do not know the meaning of the language I shall be a foreigner to him who speaks.. I Corinthians 14:18 I thank God I speak with tongues more than you all I Corinthians 14:19 yet in the church I would rather speak five words with my understand that I may teach others also than ten thousand words in a tongue.
Tongues are not the gift. The holy spirit is the gift. The word gift in the king james is italicised and that means it was added by men and void of Gods authority. God calls tongues a manifestation and their are nine of them. All believers have them as God says he is no respecter of persons. Tongues is an enablement and has over a dozen benefits including being perfect prayer. It also is Gods marking that you have the gift of holy spirit. It was tongues as witnessed by peter and six others that caused the christians of jewish lineage tonaccept that the gentiles had also received and were now members of the one body. It has not gone away. Every single person I know in our home fellowships world wide speak in tongues. You can too. I recommend a book called receiving the holy spirit today by dr. Victor paul weirwille. He did a fantastic job of laying it out. My kids grewnupnwithnit and tjey all four donit, all.mu grandkids 6 years old or more already do it. Its Gods will we all do it.
First off the book of Acts is a historical account of the early church and the apostles. It is not a doctrinal book.
Once again water baptism only was meant for the time of John the Baptist until the Christ showed up in that specific region, and that's it.
To watch these idiots push water immersion today is just a way of separating people from their money.
Then why do Philip and Peter and Paul all use Baptism?
Separating from money? The water should be free... If not there is water in every civilization.
Jesus said john baptized with water. In not many days hence you will be baptized in spirit. Water cleanses temporarily, the holy spirit cleased us from all unrighteousness permanently.
Paul: 1 Corinthians 1:17 King James Version 17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, ( in other words water immersion does not save us! )but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. ( The gospel leads to baptism of the Holy Spirit)
1 Peter 3:21 King James Version 21 The like figure whereunto even baptism (Holy Spirit) doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, (water immersion) but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
Also Acts chapter 10 Peter learned about Holy Spirit baptism (immersion)
In I Corinthians 1 Paul is addressing the division in the church. Notice Vs. 11 and in vs. 12 people were saying "I am of Paul, I am of Apollos, I am of Cephas (Peter) or I am of Christ." It wasn't that Paul didn't baptize, in fact he did baptize some of them. Notice in Vs. 14-16. He's not saying baptism wasn't important he was saying that whoever did the act of baptizing is not important. Lest people say "Well I was baptized by so and so" as if that meant more than being baptized by someone else.
Interesting you use 1Peter 3:21 because that is a confirmation of baptism. It goes right along with what Jesus said after His ressurection in Matthew 28:18-19.
And Peter in Acts 10 yes, witnessed the Holy Spirit falling on Cornelius and his household and then in Acts 10:47 says "Can any man forbid the water that these should not be baptized..."
Paul might have got caught up in the moment then realizing water immersion is a waste of time that does not do anything.
Baptism means immersion and immersed in what??? It has to be followed by a noun.
Baptized in water? In mud? In the Word of God? In the Holy Spirit?
The only Baptism that counts is Holy Spirit Baptism.
Peter is referring to a good conscience toward God like he witnessed at Cornelius home in Acts.
Like the thief on the cross. Lord will you remember me when I come into thy presence.
Peter said Baptism of the Holy Spirit not the putting away of the filth of the flesh saves us.
If your pastor is teaching you this false doctrine, cancel him out and find a better
congregation but good luck only around 3% of churches are any good.
Every year, I put out a banner across my front porch that reads "Come Holy Spirit Come". We need Him.
Amen!
Praise God and thank You for sending Your spirit
My church celebrated the Pentecost today and next week we will be celebrating the Holy Trinity.
That's cool. What church do you attend?
A very small Roman Catholic Church in a rural county.
The Catholic Church
Amen!
Amen!
Happy Pentecost Day to everyone.
Is Ishmael invited?
All who believe is Jesus and believe the Gospel are invited.
In correct. You are echoing dispensationalism. If you're filled with God's Spirit, God did that, you didn't.
Matthew 22:14 King James Version 14 For many are called, but few are chosen.
Ephesians 2:8-9 King James Version 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Amen!
Go away and spout your false doctrine to someone that cares.
Stop speaking the truth?
That's not going to happen.
JAMES 1:5 "if (ANY) of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God that giveth to (ALL) men liberally and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him" (REVELATION 3:20) "Behold I stand at the door and knock; If (ANY) man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him, and we'll sup with him, and will be with him". (JOHN 1:12) "To (ALL) who received Him who believe in Hs name, He gave the right to become children of God" (JOHN 3:16) "For God so loved (THE WORLD) that He gave his only begotten Son, that (WHOEVER) believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" "OUT OF THE MOUTH OF TWO OR THREE WITNESSES LET EVERY WORD BE ESTABLISHED" Above are four witnesses. God's invitation (His will) to give the Holy Spirit and eternal life to (ALL, ANY, WHOSOEVER) that receive Christ as their savior, is made so clear, a child couldn't misunderstand, you'd have to hire a lawyer to help you misunderstand, that WHOSOEVER means anyone (you for example) any who are willing to come to God (God's way) through the blood of Christ, and not any other way, not even by the good works of our hands as rebellious Cain (thinking he would be accepted) without the blood of the Lamb, Christ without spot or wrinkle. God said to Cain "Why is your face downcast, will you not be accepted if you do what is right (what is required) but if not, sin is waiting to rule you" Cain refused to bring a blood offering (a picture of the Christ) to come, who would shed his blood for our sins" So yes God's offer is to all, Nations, peoples, color or Creed, but that invitation is to come through (ONE DOOR) and one door only! Christ is the door, as it is written "No man comes to the Father except through the Son" Able accepted the offer from God, Cain refused. God Waits on your answer to his invitation.š
I think the translation was tablets of stone. Like my dear, beloved grandfather on a Friday night, they were legless. ;)
