As far as the $300 billion to Iran, it would not be coming from the US. The UAE has frozen Islamic Republic assets worth that amount in Dubai institutions. That is one of the places where the IR moves it oil finances through to avoid sanctions. Bessent got Dubai to freeze those assets as part of Economic Fury. As far as I know, those assets are still frozen. In the event they are released, the administration is technically right, those funds would not be coming from the US. Iranian oil is beginning to move through the Gulf from Bandar Abbas. I wonder if the US will continue seizing sanctioned tankers making their way to China. So far I have not seen much of any other commercial traffic making the transit besides an occasional cargo ship. Tankers are still moored offshore on the southern side of the Persian Gulf and off Oman's coast unless they are making some night time transits with transponders off along with US air support. The US has demined a corridor close to Oman.
Shipping is delaying transit until maritime insurers resume coverage and confirmed mine-free corridors are better established. The IRGC did fire several drones last night at shipping in the Strait as a show of strength to their home audience and to validate their claims of control over the Strait. The drones were taken down by A-10s and some new unnamed anti-drone weapons. US forces still remain in the area even though the blockade was removed.
