"But CNN chose to focus intensely on... the algae in the reflecting pool?"
Did they focus on the algae in the reflecting pool under any other administration? Well NO.
Did they focus on the graffiti on national monuments under previous administrations? Well NO. Somehow it is wrong that President Trump is trying to do basic maintenance to preserve and restore DC?? TDS knows no bounds.
Well after all they are the ones who literally pulled statues down! Isn't that what barbarians are accused of?!? Destruction of historic civilized art?!?
TDS has gotten them to hate historical monuments. They are art-haters.
It needs a whole lot of stuff. There are reasons why the reflecting pool has always been a nightmare in regards to algae and that sort of thing, and painting it blue was never going to solve those problems.
Yeah, I get why people are mocking CNN for focusing on this, when we have so much more important stuff going on, but that's exactly what liberals were saying about the renovations in the first place, that Trump had more important things to focus on than this renovation.
It doesn't help that such a huge deal was constantly made about how this renovation was going to last 100+ years, either. And it didn't last a week
All of the problems they're seeing now should have been anticipated during the renovation. Truly, it seems like all they did was drain it, scrub it, paint it, and refill it. They're absolutely astounded that they're seeing algae again when virtually nothing was done to prevent it. They even reused the same algae filled tubes and lines that were there previously.
So why did this cost $14 million dollars when it seems like the only big thing they did was paint it?
Update: There is a filtration system (based on aquatic technology unavailable in the 1920's) in place and starting to function.
It always takes a while to shock the pool. Just sayin'
Well that explains why it was reported that they were vacuuming up dead algae yesterday. It was reported as if it was a foolish effort but perhaps not.
Does filling it with a dead sea level of salt not work? At least if alternated with fresh ever couple years? DC is pretty far from the sea, can't imagine there is a ton of sea water algae around to contaminate it.
CNN, the pre-eminent purveyor of TDS.

Unless it's Hunter Biden's "art" ...
aka "art" as a method of money laundering / pay offs

(I think this is right)
Close enough, fren!😁
Copper... The pool needs copper.
It prevents algae...
I use 12" lengths of #12 solid copper bent into a ring to keep animal drinkers, bird baths etc algae free...
Illegal scrappers would snatch that within a week in a public park. Doesn't matter if there are cameras if they have no official identity in country.

I'm not sure. It is a new technology to me; I've never used it, but yes, even if the algae dies, it still needs to be removed.
Ok
