No more root canals for me. All done to "save the tooth". Yeah a "saved tooth" is there for more dental treatments . . . Which in my experience will itself fail not long afterwards!
I had a couple fully treated teeth ultimately pulled because the teeth were "fine" but the infection was not going away and I was sick, sick, sick. The dentist who pulled them said "teeth are fine unless they are making the rest of your body sick."
So I had a crown to bridge over missing teeth. But then the anchor tooth failed. Why? Well do you realize how much structure is taken off to put on a crown? Practically all of it! So of course that tooth had to be "saved" but failed even after a root canal, and I was sick sick sick before I could get an appointment to have it pulled b/c dentist said it was complicated and I needed an oral surgeon, who was booked up pulling wisdom teeth for college students home for the holidays.
Their solution was to make a larger bridge and cut off yet another tooth . . . Which would likely itself fail . . . 5 years? 10 Years? By that time one side of my upper teeth would be gone.
similar experiences as you describe...the last one was a triple crown that cost $5000!!! i have named my very expensive triple crown "Secretariat" after the famous triple crown horse! root canals, and i have a mouth full of them, end up failing long-term imo...when i was a kid in the '50's/'60's we didn't have money for regular dental visits, and both of my parents had sets of false teeth at early ages, so the genetics were not in my favor either...
Yes, genetic sensitivity to those types of bacteria! One hates to admit teeth failure, b/c of the stereotype of people who did not take care of their teeth!
I was a kid also in the 50s, 60s, and we were probably lucky to have little dental care! HA! We had occasional checkups. I had no cavities until after age 16. We brushed, we drank milk from our own cows.
Triple Crown!~ HA! For $5000! AACH!
Routine cavity fillings, ok. But the structure taken out also weakens the tooth. Then crown, then recrown, then root canal, then tooth failure. They don't tell you that. They tell you they are "saving the tooth". NOT that it is a compromised tooth dying, that you will have to spend thousands of dollars on over time to "save" it!!
Each step is hundreds then thousands of dollars! I don't think I will even get a crown again! If a tooth needs a crown, it will fail sooner or later, as above.
Just pull it and get an implant (if it is necessary for healthy eating, and all of them are not)! Add up the cost of a crown or two and a root canal, the implant is relatively affordable.
Thanks for sharing your story! None of us know in time what is really going on.
"my parents had sets of false teeth at early ages" and sometimes dentures are a good solution. My mom had a full upper denture, my dad had a removable bridge. They could eat! All they had to do was to remember to take their "teeth" with them when they went somewhere! They basically only needed the substitute teeth for eating.
Just get rid of the dead / dying teeth, each one of which will cost thousands down the line to "save." !! The dead / dying teeth are also infected, with the bacteria circulating in our blood streams! Making us sick elsewhere even if we don't realize the connection. When my dad was failing to the point he thought he was dying, I said: take him to the dentist! Sure enough he had several infected teeth that were not causing him pain so he didn't know about them. Those teeth were gotten rid of!
I will not get another crown, only to face a root canal a few years later at max. I will not get a root canal only to face failure a couple of years hence.
If it needs a crown, I will have it pulled. They can put bone material into the socket to prevent the remaining teeth from moving. One can get an implant for less than multiple crowns and root canals cost. Just saying.
I was in a car accident and it loosened my teeth. I struggled with antibiotics, water pick….but a few years later was told they couldn’t do anymore. I bit the expensive bullet and got Clear Choice dental implants. That was 7 years ago and I couldn’t be happier with my decision! $300 once a year to have them cleaned, polished and new screws if needed which I haven’t yet. The dentist also checks for mouth health and oral cancer every time. Best thing I ever did for myself!! And easy to fit in my fixed income retirement budget too.
I’m currently dealing with this. I had a filling fall out and now they want to root canal it. Then I discovered I have a root canal that I didn’t even know I had! It happened when I was young and naïve. The thought of it consumes my every waking second. I’m afraid of what it’s doing to my body. I don’t want to even think about dealing with a dentist (but I am, constantly.) I hate the medical profession. Pray for me friends. I’ve had a rough go of anxiety as of late. :(
Look for a holistic dentist, would be my suggestion. I had an infected tooth, due to bad diet I think a few years ago. They referred me for a root canal but then I remembered reading a book called "toxic tooth" and opted to visit a holistic dentist and they pulled it. I think they're also called "biologic" dentists.
I have looked and they are very difficult to find. The one I did find is on medical leave and probably not coming back, I didn’t find this out until I was in the office. His partner was an arrogant asshole. I told him people are too smart for root canals and extraction to be the only option. I guess he didn’t like that.
I found another holistic dentist and the website clearly stated parents are not allowed back when their kids are being examined, and that “individual trust needs to be established without parents.” Needless to say that caused some major red flags and we won’t even give them a try. I am usually very confident in self healing. I’ve started myself, children and spouse on a new dental/health routine. Let’s hope we can make through until this retched world gets cleaned and we can begin truly living in freedom.
Black seed oil is amazing for teeth. I once had an open nerve for 4 months because a filling fell out and I couldn't afford to get it fixed. When I finally went, the dentist was amazed there was no infection at all
Read what I could. Amazing article so far, but need to be at work soon. So, what's the alternative to a tooth that has had the root canal procedure but seems infected and or causing noticeable health issues?
Are there at-home procedures that can help? I swish with salt water regularly, alternate using diluted clove and tee tree oils as mouthwash. But how do we cure an infect root canal without going to the dentist or endodontist?
Absolutely! Have the carnivore diet covered but will consider the colliloidial silver. I used to us that years ago but didn't think it had much of a positive impact on my health.Thank you for responding with great information.
look for a biologic or holistic dentist, would be my suggestion. You could also try the MMS mouthwash, it's in Jim Humble's book which you should be able to find a link on here. Also called chlorine dioxide. That might help too.
Will look that up and thank you for the helpful suggestions. I have the chlorine dioxide kit that I purchased during the covid plandemic. I should whip that up and give it a try.
Root canals could be one of the reasons for the increase in dementia, especially in younger people.

Colloidal silver for the infection, then a carnivore diet so that the mouth, including the tooth, can heal. Get plenty of minerals.

Silver toungue Oral care mouthwash.... I learned about it here and now use it regularly.

This is so true. Took 2 years before the damage manifested itself. Still trying to fix it! Years later.
